Peleguer takes the name of the Valentia goldsmith, Peleguer Manuel, who first led to the designing of this wonderful, clear picture font in between 1779 and 1783 for Royal Economic Society of Friends of the Land of Valencia. It is believed that Peleguer Manuel never released the punches of this font family and died with it. It had around 6 degrees on open type letters.
Tipo Pèpel’s Josep Patau did some wonderful analysis on the design of this font from the book “Praise in the solemn funeral service …” released in 1784 which used this font and came up with rest of the missing letters doing full justice to the originator’s concept.
