Helvetica is known to be the most remowned type of all popular typefaces. It was actually designed by the famous typeface artist Max Miedinger in the year 1957 for the Haas foundry of Switzerland. The design is purely based on the fantastic happenings of the late nineteenth century. However, the new refinements have categorized the font in the sans serif sub-category of neo-grotesque.
After its initial introduction, the Stempel foundry bought the original Helvetica typeface and thereafter developed a complete series of weights. In the year 1960s, Helvetica made its way to the United States, where the alignment standards was different from its earlier versions.
